Well, the weather was hot, hot, hot this past weekend and there were no signs of people NOT having fun. The beaches were full and people in general seemed extremely happy. There were local sightings of Kenny Chesney at Bud and Alley’s in Seaside as well as the RED BAR on the same evening. Other sightings were of the Manning boys who own a home in Watercolor. Eli Manning is frequentlyy seen at the Watercolor gym.
Walton County does an excellent job of informing beach visitors of surf conditions. This year added to this campaign was the ability to text. An SMS campaign allows visitors and locals to text “beachflag” to 77007 to receive daily updates on surf conditions.
Lifeguards are currently stationed at eight regional beach accesses throughout South Walton, designated by parking facilities and restrooms, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Regional accesses are located at Inlet Beach, Santa Clara, Van Butler, Jr., Blue Mountain, Gulf View Heights, Ed Walline, Dune Allen and Miramar Beach. Lifeguards positioned on these beaches will be supplemented by roving patrols through Sept. 30.
As we begin to enter the month of June, it is important to watch the weather channel for any signs of upcoming Hurricanes. The weather forecast is for an active season this year. We have had 5 years of calm, but they are predicting this year to be active like it was in 2005.
I feel so fortunate to live here. I just love it here. It is so beautiful and people are so happy everywhere I go. I think just looking at the Gulf of Mexico’s calming Emerald Waters makes my heart slow down a bit and puts a smile on my face.
Here is a photo of our area. Come for a visit. You may just do what I did back in 1996 when I came for a visit. Never leave……..
